What Love Isn’t

Shutterstock
Playing with fire to fill the emptiness for a little while doesn’t feel good anymore. You’ve hit a wall because you should know better. You do know better.
Love is not inebriated embraces and sloppy French kisses.
Love is not in substance induced words of affection.
Love is not a call past midnight with an invitation to take each other’s clothes off.
Love is not about knowing where his body parts are, but not where his heart or mind is currently at.
Love is not forced connections and faked orgasms.
Love is not an 8-hour sleepover and a “See you around” the following morning.
Love is not pretending you are ok with this arrangement.
Love is not the uncertainty of whether a text message will go unanswered.
Love is not deciphering what he really means.
Love is not in empty conversations in hopes to find something in common.
Love is not about who cares less.
Love is not supposed to hurt.
Love is knowing you are worth it and respecting yourself enough to walk away. Love is your friend who listens to you drone and cry over the one she had originally warned you about. It is the occasional phone call from someone you miss dearly. Love is in your mom and dad who still worry about you, though you keep assuring them you are doing well. Love is what inspires your hopes and dreams. Love is in the superior force that carries you through. Love is what keeps you believing.
Love lives inside of you.

Would You Or Wouldn’t You Date A Libra?

Would You Or Wouldn’t You Date A Libra?

Does a person’s astrological sign really say something about his or her dating personality or overall disposition? Many people strongly believe in the stars and what they stand for, while others do not. Regardless, it’s always fun to investigate such a topic and explore it in its entirety.
Currently this is the month of Libra, so we are going to take a closer look at the qualities of a person born between September 24th and October 23rd. Would you want to date someone of this sign? Time to whip out the pros and cons:

Pros:

Balance
This is an amazing characteristic to look for in a partner as Libras tend to be even-tempered. They give as much as they take, which is a rare quality for anyone to have. Chances are when you argue with Libras, they will do their best to see things from multiple perspectives in order to give a balanced and well-rounded response.
Romantic Nature
If you are going to pursue a relationship with someone, what’s a better trait than having a romantic disposition? A Libra will go above and beyond to fulfill his or her partner’s needs in order to have a successful relationship. A romantic nature will serve as the basis for a functional relationship.
Easy-going
The easy-going aspect of a Libra’s personality may be the most enticing factor, as drama would be limited. What’s better than dating a person you can be your complete self with without fear of judgment? It’s difficult to find someone who you can really just relax with as couples these days tend to argue more than not.
Sociable
Don’t be fooled by their flirtatious nature, if Libras are with you, they are completely invested in the relationship (well until they’re not). It’s a relief when you can bring your counterpart into any situation and not have to worry about babysitting him or her. You can let them mingle on their own and be fully confident they will make everyone around them feel at ease.
Fun
A Libra is perhaps one of the best people to go out and get hammered with. They are the happy-go-lucky types who always want everyone to have fun. They are levelheaded, which is a great quality to have when getting sh*tfaced. When your two friends get in a fight, you can always count on a Libra to mediate the situation.
Empathetic
Empathy is a trait that is more than evident if you are in a relationship with a Libra. Having the ability to understand and identify with someone else’s issues and concerns is basically what having a successful relationship is all about.
Honestly, at this point, are there any cons that would prevent you from dating a Libra? It’s all about compromise and these amazing traits seem like they could override any fault. Let’s take a look at the cons before making a decision.

Cons:

Lazy
Laziness is one of the more undesirable traits a person can have. Basically your partner is simply unmotivated to do anything that requires extra effort. Do you know how tiring it is to argue with someone who just doesn’t even care about making an effort to listen to you or understand your feelings?
Flirtatious
There’s a fine line between being social and acting in an unnecessarily flirtatious manner. This can lead to jealousy, which can be detrimental to your relationship. If you are a jealous person then it may not be in your best interest to seek a Libra partner.
Clingy
Libras have the tendency to act somewhat clingy, either preferring to drape themselves over some strong man’s arm or across the shoulders of a courageous woman and let them handle the petty problems of the world.
Superficial
External beauty is an important factor to a Libra. Since they are such flirts, this can become a problem when another opportunity arises. They are somewhat snobbish and value materialistic items. This trait alone should not be considered a deal breaker when compared to the other great things Libras have to offer.
Overall, it seems a Libra is a great match.

The Girls You Should Be Marrying

The Girls You Should Be Marrying
Earlier in the month I wrote an article titled “The Girls Who Are Never Getting Married”. You may have read it; it continues to get an influx of negative comments to this day, as the only people that are offended are the ones that know its true. So many women were furious with the article, claiming that the man who wrote it was misogynistic, disgusting, and my favorite comment “has four girls buried under his crawl space.”
Well Elite Daily readers, I wrote that article, and I am a female. Surprised? Feeling stupid? I hope so. I wrote that article because I’m disgusted with the girls of my generation who use their sexuality to get ahead in life, and disrespect themselves on a daily basis. I’m flattered that you think I’m a male chauvinist and a creep though. I may be a bitch but I’m just being honest.
I could honestly care less if your goal in life is to get married or not. If you choose not to, that’s your choice and I hope that it makes you happy. I wrote that article because those are the women I would hate to see my close guy friends end up with, or my brothers. If any guy that I’m close with wants to pursue a long-term relationship, these are the women I hope they do that with and eventually end up with.
The 30-Year Old With The Graduate School Degree
This girl took the initiative to further her education, and wants to make something of herself career wise. She’s a hard worker and she chooses to work hard on her own. She is independent and she is the perfect alpha woman. It’s one thing to go to a four-year university and graduate with a degree and get a successful job. Trust me, I commend anyone that does that and encourage all of you to do so.
The thing about a graduate of graduate school that intrigues me is that they knew that it would mean more work and less partying. Not many people are willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money to further their education. I like a girl like this because you know that she’s smart, you know that she has drive, and you know that she’ll keep you stimulated. She is the farthest thing away from that club whore you usually hang out with that is most likely blown out down there by now.
The Best Of Both Worlds
The perfect girl. She’s smart, she reads during her free time but watches shitty television. She loves to shop and present herself well but feels most comfortable with her feet up on the coffee table, drinking a few beers, watching the game with the guys. This girl can laugh at stupid girly nonsense but still take a joke when the guys she’s friends with try to bust her balls.
I want guys to end up with a girl like this, because I feel like they’ll never be bored. They’ll get the sexiness and femininity that they crave along with a best friend, because relationships almost never work if you’re not friends with your significant other. My parents have been married for 25 years and still chase each other around the house and play tag and that’s because my mom is a down ass bitch who loves Led Zeppelin and stilettos. Oh shit, I called my mom a bitch, that’s offending feminists right? Sorry I’m not.
The best of both worlds is truly what it means. It’s the girl that will pig out with you on burgers and hotdogs but still be so hot about it. She may even know how to play Madden. This is the girl that will go and buy beer and steak for you and your friends during man night. There is nothing like being with a girl that is just down with everything.
The Girl Who’s Got Her Own
Just like the annoyingly catchy Ne-Yo song says. The girl who’s completely independent. She wants you but she sure as hell doesn’t need you. She’s educated, she has a job, she pays her bills on time, buys all of her own shit, completely takes care of herself and is more than happy with her life. You want to go out with your guys? Cool, do that, she’ll call you tomorrow, cause she’ll be out doing her own thing.
A girl like this is an absolute keeper. She can be in a relationship, but she doesn’t need you to take care of her because she can take care of you. What guy wouldn’t want this? It’s borderline terrifying when a girl absolutely needs you in her life to make her happy.
So Elite Daily, that’s who I would want my brothers or my good guy friends ending up with. I know what some of you are thinking, “girls like this don’t exist”. I hear it everyday in these offices, but guess what, they do. They exist and I’d much rather all of the men out there wait and find one, instead of wasting their time on a girl who doesn’t respect themselves. Some may say these girls are unicorns and don’t exist but I beg to differ, try looking in the right places and not the club you frequently visit.

The Unofficial Goldman Sachs Guide To Being A Man

We’ve all seen and perhaps grown tired of guides and lists that are rife with tedious clichés and full of humdrum regurgitated meme wisdom.
For that very reason, @GSElevator — in collaboration with John Carney (@Carney) of CNBC.com — presents a fresh, and hopefully thoughtful, look at what it means to be a man today.
  • *Stop talking about where you went to college.
  • *Always carry cash.  Keep some in your front pocket.
  • *Rebel from business casual. Burn your khakis and wear a suit or jeans.
  • *It’s okay to trade the possibility of your 80s and 90s for more guaranteed fun in your 20s and 30s.
  • *The best public restrooms are in hotels: The St. Regis in New York, Claridge’s in London, The Fullerton in Singapore, to name a few.
  • *Never stay out after midnight three nights in a row … unless something really good comes up on the third night.
  • *You will regret your tattoos.
  • *Never date an ex of your friend.
  • *Join Twitter; become your own curator of information.
  • *If riding the bus doesn't incentivize you to improve your station in life, nothing will.
  • *Time is too short to do your own laundry.

  • *When the bartender asks, you should already know what you want to drink.
  • *If you perspire, wear a damn undershirt.
  • *You don’t have to like baseball, but you should understand the concept of what a pitcher’s ERA means.  Approach life similarly.
  • *When people don’t invite you to a party, you really shouldn’t go.
And sometimes even when you are invited, you shouldn’t go.

  • *People are tired of you being the funny, drunk guy.

  • *When in doubt, always kiss the girl.
  • *Tip more than you should.
  • *You probably use your cell phone too often and at the wrong moments.

  • *Buy expensive sunglasses.  Superficial? Yes, but so are the women judging you. And it tells these women you appreciate nice things and are responsible enough not to lose them.
  • *If you want a nice umbrella, bring a sh*tty one to church.
  • *Do 50 push-ups, sit-ups, and dips before you shower each morning.

  • *Eat brunch with friends at least every other weekend. Leave Rusty and Junior at home.
  • *Be a regular at more than one bar.
  • *Act like you’ve been there before.  It doesn’t matter if it’s in the end zone at the Super Bowl or on a private plane.
  • *A glass of wine or two with lunch will not ruin your day.

  • *It’s better if old men cut your hair.  Ask for Sammy at the Mandarin Oriental Barbershop in Hong Kong.  He can share his experiences of the Japanese occupation, or just give you a copy of Playboy.
  • *Learn how to fly-fish.
  • *No selfies. Aspire to experience photo-worthy moments in the company of a beautiful woman.
  • *Own a handcrafted shotgun.  It’s a beautiful thing.
  • *There’s always another level. Just be content knowing that you are still better off than most who have ever lived.
  • *You can get away with a lot more if you're the one buying the drinks.
  • *Ask for a salad instead of fries.

  • *Don’t split a check.
  • *Pretty women who are unaccompanied want you to talk to them.
  • *Cobblers will save your shoes. So will shoe trees.
  • *When a bartender buys you a round, tip double.

  • *The cliché is that having money is about not wasting time. But in reality, money is about facilitating spontaneity.
  • *Be spontaneous.
  • *Find a Times New Roman in the streets and a Wingdings in the sheets. She exists.
  • *Piercings are liabilities in fights.

  • *Do not use an electric razor.

  • *Desserts are for women. Order one and pretend you don’t mind that she’s eating yours.

  • *Buy a tuxedo before you are thirty. Stay that size.

  • *One girlfriend at a time is probably enough.

  • *#StopItWithTheHastags
  • *Your ties should be rolled and placed in a sectioned tie drawer.

  • *Throw parties.
But have someone else clean up the next day.
  • *You may only request one song from the DJ.

  • *Measure yourself only against your previous self.
  • *Take more pictures.  With a camera.
  • *Place-dropping is worse than name-dropping.

  • *When you admire the work of artists or writers, tell them.
And spend money to acquire their work.

  • *Your clothes do not match. They go together.

  • *Yes, of course you have to buy her dinner.

  • *Staying angry is a waste of energy.

  • *Revenge can be a good way of getting over anger.

  • *If she expects the person you are 20% of the time, 100% of the time, then she doesn't want you.
  • *Always bring a bottle of something to the party.

  • *Avoid that “last” whiskey. You’ve probably had enough.

  • *Don’t use the word “closure” or ever expect it in real life. There may still be a mortally wounded Russian mobster roaming the woods of south Jersey, but we’ll never know.
  • *If you are wittier than you are handsome, avoid loud clubs.

  • *Drink outdoors.
 And during the day.
 And sometimes by yourself.
  • *Date women outside your social set. You’ll be surprised.

  • *If it’s got velvet ropes and lines, walk away unless you know someone.

  • *You cannot have a love affair with whiskey because whiskey will never love you back.

  • *Feigning unpretentiousness is worse than being pretentious. Cut it out with the vintage Polo and that ’83 Wagoneer in Nantucket.
  • *The New Yorker is not high-brow. Neither is The Economist.

  • *If you believe in evolution, you should know something about how it works.
  • *No-one cares if you are offended, so stop it.

  • *Never take an ex back. She tried to do better and is settling with you.
  • *Eating out alone can be magnificent. Find a place where you can sit at the bar.
  • *Read more. It allows you to borrow someone else’s brain, and will make you more interesting at a dinner party – provided that you don’t initiate conversation with, “So, who are you reading …”
  • *Ignore the boos. They usually come from the cheap seats.
  • *Hookers aren’t cool, and remember, the free ones are a lot more expensive.
  • *Don’t ever say, “it is what it is.”
  • *Start a wine collection for your kids when they are born.  Add a few cases every year without telling them.  It’ll make a phenomenal gift in twenty years.
  • *Don’t gamble if losing $100 is going to piss you off.
  • *Remember, “rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.”
